Together, Horizon  Strategic Solutions (SDVOSB) harness Significance's proficiency in data analytics and financial management alongside Mayfield's expertise in logistics support and financial systems migration. Mary Ahern

President & CEO Significance, Inc.

Mary solely launched Significance in 2014 after owning, starting, and growing a successful government consulting company in the DC area. Prior to that, she worked in sales and consulting in the technology sector, helping both commercial and public sector companies solve business problems and accomplish organizational goals through enterprise software and consulting with a deliverable solution. Inspired by her father’s entrepreneurial spirit and success, Mary is driven to understand clients’ challenges and help provide innovative solutions to fill niche needs in government program processes and corporate services. She achieves this by building trusted relationships and recruiting and retaining experts in their fields, which has been a hallmark of her career.

In creating Significance, Mary had a vision to build a company that reflects her values and work ethic. She is passionate about making sure her employees and clients feel they have “significance” by building a culture that reflects a focus on meaningful relationships, integrity, and collaboration. This makes working FOR and WITH Significance a positive experience and a lot of fun!

Mary is a graduate of the University of Maryland and lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with her three children and spends her free time working out, boating, spending time with friends, and improving her newly developing pickleball skills.

Chris, a South Carolina native, spent the majority of his 30-year Naval career in Virginia.  

He initially served as an enlisted Storekeeper before transitioning to a Supply Corps Officer via the Limited Duty Officer program.  

Chris served on five different U.S. Naval ships and held positions at various shore commands. His final tour was as the Chief of Staff for DLA Distribution Norfolk.  

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies from Excelsior College in Albany, NY, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, AL.  

Following his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Chris joined Ironclad Technology Services as a Program Manager and Financial Subject Matter Expert. He managed contracts supporting U.S. Fleet Forces, Pacific Commander Comptroller Offices, Type Commanders, and U.S. Naval Reserve Forces.  

Later, he transitioned to One Network Enterprises, serving as the Program Manager in support of the Navy's next Supply Chain Management System, NOSS (Navy Operational Supply System).  

Chris's experience in managing Agile processes for delivering enterprise software solutions has equipped him with expertise in clear requirement documentation, group management, and End-to-End processes for logistics and financial postings.
